Why You Should Value Your Employees

A recent survey conducted on employees showed that 80% of employees were motivated to work harder because of the appreciation they received from their bosses. Over half of this number stated that they would remain in the company if they were treated with respect.

Every human being loves to be valued and be viewed as valuable. When workers are appreciated by their employers, it can make them feel valued, ultimately, increasing productivity. The employees become more passionate about their work and loyal to the organization. Valuing employees will also boost the morale of the company as well as, increase revenue, enhance productivity and lower costs.

When an employer appreciates employees for their work or attitude in the workplace, they become more confident and eager to contribute to the success of the organization.

The workforce is the most valuable asset of the company, and the company needs them more than they need the company. When the employees are valued, the clients of the company benefit from it as well. They deliver better customer services to clients and are always willing to assist them in any way possible. This will positively affect the growth of the company.

Employers should not view their employees as cost, and they should be confident that they will be taken care of if an emergency should arise. Rather, employees should be considered as individuals with a contribution to the success of the company. That way, a company can ensure that their employees get all the necessary care, regarding health insurance and bonuses.

Employers can also keep their consumers happy by keeping their employees happy. Although most businesses prefer to put the consumer first, this cannot be possible if the staff are unhappy or undervalued. Consumers will deal with staff almost a 100 percent of the time, if the staff are unhappy, they will treat consumers in that same manner and invariably, the company will suffer loss due to the behaviour of the staff. Leveraging the employee value will create a job satisfaction which will affect the productivity of the business and enable it to stay above the competitors.

Also, when employees are not valued, they tend to become easily depressed. Studies have shown that employees who are poorly treated are more prone to depression. Studies have also shown that it is not the workload of the business that causes depression for an employee but the attitude of the boss. When an employee is depressed, there can be consequences. The employee would be prone to workplace accidents due to absent-mindedness related to depression. The employer will be made to pay compensation for such accidents as they occur. Depressed workers can also create a tense environment for co-workers, and this will adversely affect the productivity of the company.

The workforce of a company can make or mar it. Employees who are dedicated and loyal to their employers will increase the overall growth and productivity of the company and help the company stay ahead of the competition.
